Unirea Medical Center, a new name on the private medical services' market! At the beginning, there was a cardiology surgeon in an apartment located in the Piata Unirii (Unirii Square).
In 1996 we introduced the concept of medical subscriptions.
Today, such subscriptions include from occupational medicine, family medicine, basic medicine, pre-hospital services and ambulatory treatment to emergency and hospitalization systems.
Closer to UMC customers
In 1999 we officially established the first UMC center with multiple specialties – UMC Unirea, and in 2001 two new clinics - UMC Enescu and UMC Opera Center. 2001 was also the year we developed the project UMC Net, the national network of our partners, exceeding today the number of 110 clinics.
2004 is noted by opening the Women Clinic, UMC Arcul de Triumf, a new medical care concept on the Romanian market. From the age of fertility to menopause, each woman benefits of assistance, preventive consultancy, monitoring, treatment and even surgeries within the new clinic.
In 2005, three new policlinics: UMC Charles de Gaulle, UMC Bucharest Business Park and UMC Iride. Moreover, in 2005 both our personal Surgery Clinic and collaboration with the private - public area as regards the Maternity UMC Elias are established.
New investments
In 2006 UMC starts a process to attract investments, finalized in February 2007, when, by the transaction with 3i plc, the largest investment in the private medical system in Romania's results. The investment titan 3i Plc takes over a minor participation in UMC.
2008, investments’ year
Extending UMC outside Bucharest. Our first step: acquiring the Medical Center Motilor, holding 2 medical centers in Cluj Napoca. Next is Avamedica, three medical centers in Constanta. In Constanta, the take over was followed by the construction of a new Diagnosis and Treatment Center together with Avamedica.
UMC Kids – the first pediatrics clinic destined for the small patients’ sector.
Diagnosis and Treatment Center – precocious diagnosis of severe diseases by means of the most advanced techniques and installations available today.
Regina Maria Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital - The most modern hospital dedicated for obstetrics and gynecology, with the latest instruments and techniques, including the possibility to give birth into the water.
Academic Partnership – We have developed a partnership with a series of personages in the medical area in Romania; 30 professors consult and provide surgeries in the UMC clinics, on grounds of appointments.
VIP Health Check – an innovative program to scan the health condition. A complete clinical exam, within just one day, a complex process to assess the health condition.
Stem-Health Unirea - The stem cells bank benefits of a significant contribution of know-how from New England Blood Cord, connected to the research center within the University of Harvard.
2009
Extensions continue. UMC Ploiesti, A Greenfield PROJECT WITH LOCAL PARTNERS.
Two new UMC clinics in Bucharest
- The clinic destined for occupational medicine moves to a new space in Iride Park.
- UMC Sema Park a new policlinic closer to our patients in sector 6.
2010
Advent International takes over a majority stake in Unirea Medical Center
This month, Unirea Medical Center has finalized the process of selling a majority participation to the Advent International investment fund. This is the largest transaction from the market of private medical services from Romania.
